Pinterest is a Visual Image (and Video) Social Bookmarking Site. You can consider it an online pin-board or album, where people “pin” things they like and want to share with people to enjoy. But there is also a very interesting traffic source aspect to this place.

Why is Pinterest so interesting?

Pinterest is full of people who are passionate about beautiful objects, design, quality and visual appealing photos and images.

First of all, it is very nice place to share just images or videos, which are in its own section where you can share your videos form YouTube, and if a Pinterest user likes an item you pinned, they can ‘like’ it and/or “re-pin2 these images to their own pin boards. You can even set up boards that other people can pin to orcollaborate on a board on a particular topic.

And here comes the most interesting part for people that are also looking to get traffic to their “normal” websites. Every image is linked to the site it original came from, so when a user clicks the image it is taken first to its “pin” page, but when they click this image again on your page, they will be taken to YOUR site, even if the image was originally on somebody else’s board.

So there is a huge potential for driving traffic to your site. If you add to this already powerful traffic driving potential the fact that the user’s activity is also reflected on their connected Facebook and Twitter accounts the possibilities getting viral traffic to your site seem to be endless!

How can I get started?

The sites URL is pinterest.com, but you can’t simply sign-up, because it is currently an invitation-only site.

When you got your Pinterest “invitation access”, you will be presented with a selection of Pinterest Board “Themes”. Simply click OK to the selection offered; you can change the titles and text later on. Next you are taken to the goodies page to add the “Pin-it” button to your browser.

Now you want to edit your profile settings to add your website’s URL and connect your Pinterest profile to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Don’t forget to write something meaningful about you in the About box, and make sure “Hide from search engines” is switched to OFF; you want to be found, don’t you?

Now the fun begins; you start pinning… First of all you create your board or rename the one create when you first logged in, and to which you will be adding or uploading your pins. Make sure to give it a good name and chose the right categories to help people interested in a specific area find your board.

When you add a pin, you enter the URL of the site where the image is located and you will then click the “Find images” button to select the image you want to pin. You can also upload images from your local disk. Following an example of the editing access to two Boards that a user Pinterest user created.

There are more options to ease the task of adding images as you surf the web, like adding a “Pin it” button to your browser or installing Pinterest for iPhone. See Goodies section, pinterest.com/about/goodies, for more details.

You may also want to add images from other Pinterest boards, to attract visitors to your board. This is called repining, and is as simple as hovering over the image and clicking the repin Button. Here you will also see the Like and Comment buttons.

Another strong social aspect is the following option. You can follow people or specific board, and your home page will change accordingly as they update their content. For following a Pinterest user click the “Follow All” button on their profile and for following a specific Pinterest board, you will find the “Follow” button on the top of the board.

The possibilities that Pinterest offers to its users are much more valuable than one would think at a first glance. Apart of being able to share your interests graphically, it can also be used for activities like brand building and selling your own or affiliate products by simply linking to the sales page the image was originally placed on, and if your sales or affiliate page has no nice images, simply create an intermediate “landing page” with the attracting images, a price and call to action that will take them to the product page.

You could even create a contest to where the Pinterest users would get a price and badges for sharing your images on their boards. As you can see, there are no limits to your creativity..

The Competition? – Pinerly

There is another site, Pinerly, which is invitation only too. Here is how it works:

Once you have your invitation that takes you to the page to get started, simply enter your email into the top-right corner and hit the “Lets’s Go” button. You will then be placed on the waiting list and get your own referral link. From there on, as your referrals start signing up, you get accesses to more functionality. For your first friend you get a “Quick Peek”, with 5 friends you will have earned the “Early Access” and with 10 friends you get access to the bonus features. BE AWARE! signing up from the same computer multiple times will not count! I tried it and it doesn’t work.

I’m not quite sure whether Pinerly is really a competing or “sister” site, because when you hover over the “Pin it” button on Pinerly you will see that it says “Pin it on Pinterest” and then lauches the Pinterest pin box with the text “via Pinerly – your Pinterest friendly dashboard “.

So I leave it up to you to judge, but you can get some great images from Pinerly. Here are two of my Pinterest boards: Favorite Places & Spaces and I Love Animals, that I created with images from Pinerly.

Suggestion:
If you wake up next morning feeling like your head is going to explode after a night of drinking too much alcohol, here is some useful advice to follow to ease the pain.

To eliminate the toxic residues of alcohol:
a) The first thing to do is to try to get the rid of alcohol that is still in your body. A type of suger called fructose is a big help because it quickly burns off the alcohol that exits in the body.Fructose is found in some fruits, and in bee honey. A good idea is to drink apple or papaya juice sweetened with honey. In addition, drink lot of water. It is great for re-hydrating the body, and it reduces the dilation of the arteries and veins in the head, reducing the pressure and thus the pain.

b) If your head is strong in the morning even after drinking above, try willow tea (made from the bark of willow trees). The willow is a tree from the salicaceous family that contains a natural form of salicylic acid, which is the active component in aspirin. You can also take two aspirin preferably at night before going o bed and again in the morning as well. Drink alot of water with juice before going to bed and again when you wake up. This will help you neutralize dehydration caused by alcohol, helping you to feel better in the morning.

For more youthful knee joints – or anything that bends – consider whats in your kitchen. These six foods could be your best medicine. Berries, ginger, avocado, flax seed, omega-3- rich fish, and soy. Research shows they help stifle joint damaging inflammation.

On your menu
Try this joint-friendly daily meal plain: Whole- grain cereal or Oatmeal with berries for breakfast, an avocado sandwich or a soy burger for lunch, a handful of walnuts or flax seeds for a snack, and salmon for dinner.

More picks (and pans)
Some other diet do’s and dont’s. Make a fruit bowl with orange and grapefruit chunks. Vitamin C can thwart cartilage loss and slow osteoarthritis progression.

Sip tea: It’s chock full of anti- inflammatory compounds. And green tea may be especially good. Avoid red meat, and skip the sugary and starchy stuff. Pro- inflammatory substances in these foods- like saturated fats in red meat – could spur joint pain or make it worse.

Eating berries for breakfast is good for joints pains.

Live longer and feel better. Longevity is acquired when a series of factors come together, such as balanced diet, low stress, good genetics, well-being, in addition to taking responsibility for all of the elements involved in good health including such nutrients which protect the body from various environmental effects.

Symptoms:
Aging of skin and cells in all the organs of the body is part of a natural process, which is determined by the genes and the oxidation process taking place in each cell of the body. The enhanced oxidation adversely affects the immunity system. The immune system plays a large role inaging process with its operation center located in the thymus gland. When the immune system of the body fails due to enhanced cellur oxidation, organs are at the mercy of virus, bacteria etc.

Causes:
On the other hand, it is known that smoking and polluted air produce molecular crossings in cells and these are responsible for skin and tissue hardening which causes brittle and wrinkle skin. This affect of molecular crossing is also produced by free radicals, which tend to destroy and degenerate cells, proteins, tissues as well as the heart of cells the DNA oxidation. Ultra violet rays from the sun produce free radicals, by the normal metabolism of certain fats and polluted air. Free radicals affect cerebral cells causing old age diseases such as the loss of memory, depression, insomnia, sexual impotency, arteriosclerosis etc.

Suggestion for increasing life and well-being:
1) Consume Grains: Grains are rich in proteins, minerals (calcium, Iron, potassium, sodium, magnesium) and starches. Two types of grains exit-
(a) Cereal: Rice, corn. wheat, oats and
(b) Legumes: (Rich in proteins) all types of beans – kidney, lentil, garbonzos, soybeans and peas.
2) Consume vegetables: There are as many as five different types of vegetables: leafygreen, seedpod, flower, stalk and roots.
(a) Leafy: Lettuce, cabbage, cilantro, swiss chard, alfalfa, spinach, parsely, min, grapeleaves, cactusonion tops.
(b) Seed pod: All types of tomatoes, squash, hot peppers, eggplant, green beans, cucumber.
(c) Flower: Cauliflower, broccoli, squash blossoms, artichokes, and palm flowers.
(d) Stalks: Celery, asparagus, mushrooms, corn smut.
(e) Roots: Beets all types of onions, garlic, carrot radishes, and turnips.
3) Consume fruits: In addition to vitamins and minerals, these products contain monosaccharide sugers, which are easily assimilated by the body. Fruits can be divided in to three categories:
(a) Juice: Orange, grapes, lime, mandarin, lemon, watermelon, cantaloupe, and tamarind.
(b) Pulp: Banana, mango, papaya ,strawberry, pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe and tamarind.
(c) Endosperm: Apple, pear, peach, apricot, plum quince, prickly pear, fig, grape, guava, kiwi, dates, coconut and pomegranate.
4) ConsumeTubers: potatoes and yarns are the most common. These products are high in polysaccharide carbohydrates (starches). The sugers in fruits and tubers provide the most important source of energy for the body.
5) Soluble fibre is found in oats, fruits and vegetables. It helps to lower cholestral and concerated sugers in the blood. Insoluble fibre that is found in cereals and legumes is good for the digestive system and protects against cancer of the colon.
6) Fats: In a good diet, fat should not be ommited, as long as it not more than 30% of the daily calorie intake.

“Nutrition is very important facter for good health and longevity.”

Today many of us spend long hours sitting in front of a PC or laptop. Using these gadgets actually strains our eye muscles and causes dryness. Besides, pollution, diseases like diabetes, sinusitis and thyroid can also effect the eyesight. If you are suffering from redness of the eye continuous headaches, blurred vision eye fatigue, the urge to keep your eyes closed, itching in the eyes, spots and strings floating in your field of vision , then you need to get your checked immediately.

Exercise:
Eye exercises help in keeping the six eye muscle, which help the eyes to rotate, flexible and strong If the muscle become stiff, it becomes painful to move the eyes and close the lid. Exercising also helps to relieve the pressure on the optic nerve that transmits information from the eye to the brain. Remember if the optic nerve is damaged, it cannot be repaired.

Here are a few eye exercises that will help your eyes to relax. Most importantly, you can do anywhere.

Eye Massage:
Close your eyes tightly for 5 to 6 seconds and quickly open them. Repeat this for at least 7 to 8 times.
Close your eyes and massage them with the tip of your third finger (ring finger) in circular movements.
Close your eyes. Place three fingers of your hand on your upper eye lids, apply a little pressure and hold for 1-2 seconds, then release. Repeat at least 5 times.

Eye Movement:
This exercise is recommended to people who generally sit for long hours in front of the computer.
Sit and be relaxed. Now roll your eyes first in clockwise direction and then in anticlockwise direction. Once a circle of movement is completed blink your eyes to rest the eyes. Repeat this at least 5-6 times

Clock Exercise:
Imagine yourself standing in front of a really big clock. Now imagine looking at the middle of the clock. Slowly look at any hour mark and that too without turning your head. Then look back at the centre and look at another hour mark. Do this at least 10 to 12 times. This exercise is also beneficial if done with closed eyes.

Focus A Mark:
Sit Near a window and keep a distance of about 50 cm from the window. Make a mark on the glass of the window with a small sticker or a felt pen at your eye level. Look or focus on something far away for 10 – 15 seconds through this mark and then return back to the focus.

Scribble On Wall:
Stand in front of a wall and pretend that you are writing with your eyes, without turning your head. This is very good exercise, which might seem difficult in the beginning but slowly you will enjoy it. Remember the bigger the letters, the better the effect.

Blink Exercise:
Blinking is not actually an exercise but it is very important. Starting at an object uninterrupted for a long time also causes strain and this should be also avoided. So make a rule to blink often.

Good to remember:

Have a diet that is loaded with beta-caretene, a vitamin especially helpful in maintaining healthy eyes. Fruits and veggies like carrot are rich in beta-carotene.

Contact lenses should never be worn for more than 12 hours. Wearing contacts for long cannot only cause extreme uneasiness, but permanent sight damage.

Place cold cucumber slices or tea bags soaked in cold water and press gently for 10 minutes before going to bed. This pacifies your eyes and also prevents puffiness.

Always wear UV protective sunglasses while getting out in the sun.

Yoga has been the backbone behind the good health of mankind, since the vedic period. It was proved beyond doubt that the ‘Yogic Aasanas/kriyas’ had the capability of providing relief to mankind in various ailments. Yoga became less popular because of its ineffectiveness against infectious diseases and perennial loss of nutritional value of the food. In addition, the stringent rules & regulations and the changing social environment added fuel in ill popularizing yoga in the previous centuries. However, yoga again started regaining its popularity as an alternate system for relief in the diseases prevalent today. It is mainly because the yogic gurus have simplified yoga in a manner that it can be performed by any one, anywhere and anytime.

In Yogic Aasanas/ Kriyas the main thrust is on diversion of additional energy to the ailing part of the body ( pranayama). The generation of extra energy enhances free radicals inside the cells. The free radicals are the root cause of chronic Degenerative Diseases (CDD). Therefore, initially yoga may appear to provide relief in some chronic degenerate diseases but for permanent relief it has to be supported with anti- oxidants and additional quality nutrition. This is clearly evident from the fact that some yogic Gurus have already started providing certain herbal formulations based on Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is the oldest and the only medicine system which evolved from nature. But the main problem with Ayurvedic formulations today is that, most of its ingredients are produced by farmers. The farmers like everyone else desire to earn money for a better living. Thus, they tend to use excessive fertilizers, chemicals and pesticides, which are extremely harmful for the human body. This is the main reason that the Ayurvedic formulations today are unable to provide relief in the incurable life style diseases and hence loosing popularity. Thus, the practice of combining Yoga with Ayurvedic formulations by some of the Yogic Gurus may not be able to come to the rescue of mankind in the incurable lie style diseases.

Above all, the ‘yoga’ being practiced today, evolved at a time, when nature and mankind were closest to each other. Today the situation is poles apart. In those days, everything is absolutely fresh and pure without any pollution, whereas everything is highly polluted and impure today. Thus, in order to keep ‘ yoga’ as an alternate system for relief in incurable diseases the ‘ Yogic Gurus’ will have to evolve new ‘ Yogic Asanas/ Kriyas’ which are capable of eliminating excessive free radicals from the human body or recommend utilization of organic ant_oxidants.
